
History
The District Institute of Education and Training, Ganjam, Khallikote was established on 1994. Initially, this Institute was an Elementary Teachers Training Institute. On 1st December, 1966, it was upgraded to Secondary Training School. It became District Institute of Education and Training on 1994. It bears the responsibility of Teachers Training at Elementary Level of Ganjam District. This Institute is a milestone in the history of Elementary Education of Ganjam District. This Green campus creates a sense of belongingness and environmental awareness amongst the students and staff of the institute.
DIET plays a key role in enhancing the education system by offering pre-service and in-service teacher training, fostering professional development, developing teaching materials, and organizing leadership programs. DIETs actively engage in educational research, often collaborating with SCERT and NCERT, contributing to improve academic planning and teaching quality. They design interventions to directly support schools, provide guidance to educational institutions, and strengthen BRCCs, CRCCs, and DRGs to ensure a more effective and enriched educational experience at the district level.
Vission
- To be a centre of excellence in elementary education in the district.
- To play a key role in planning, designing, and conducting research activities for various need-assessment surveys.
- To ensure capacity building for education administrators, ABEOs, CRCCs, and teachers.
- To generate new ideas, innovations, and improved practices in education, quality monitoring, and supervision through short-term and longitudinal studies.
- To design strategic interventions at the district, sub-district, and institutional levels to address gaps in competency-based learning outcomes.
Mission
- To organize pre-service training for prospective teachers and capacity-building programs for in-service teachers.
- To conduct conferences, meetings, seminars, and briefing sessions for District Education Officers and field functionaries.
- To ensure the availability of print-rich materials and digital resources to support teachers.
- To conduct action research to address educational issues and challenges at the district level.
- To promote an inclusive classroom environment through play, discovery, and activity-based pedagogy.
- To collaborate with other agencies and organizations to ensure quality in the school education program.
